Globeville is an industrial and residential neighborhood located on the north side of Denver, Colorado. This neighborhood is walkable, in that there is plenty of commercial activity nearby, however, large freeways, train tracks, and the river impede travel in many directions. Industrial and commercial areas in Globeville were not designed with pedestrian traffic in mind.
Dog walkers in the Globeville neighborhood will find nice residential streets and local parks for walking their pets, but need to contend with variable weather. Winters can be cold and snowy, although occasional Chinook winds bring mid-winter thawing and make pleasant conditions for a stroll with your pup. Have good winter outerwear and footwear to stay warm and dry for cooler days. Summers are warm and nice for walking, however, sudden thunderstorms can occur due to the high plain geographical location. These storms are hazardous to pedestrians, so check weather forecasts to be aware of impending storms.
There are also large rail yards and train tracks on the west and southeast sides of Globeville that are not accessible to pedestrians and present a similar walking impediment. The west and north sides of the neighbors are primarily industrial and commercial while the residential areas are concentrated just east of Interstate 25 and bisected by Interstate 70. Dwellings in the area are older vintage homes, sidewalks for pedestrians and pets, and some grassy berms. The terrain is level with no hills to climb.
In spite of its industrialized areas, Globeville is blessed with several greenways and parks within easy walking distance for area residents. The Heron Pond Open Space is located on the north side of the community and provides 43 acres of natural space with a large pond. This is a popular park for bird watchers and has plenty of open space with nature trails.
Just south is the Carpio Sanguinette Park which provides open recreational space, fields, and facilities. From this park, you can access the riverside trails. The Colorado Front Range Trail runs along the west shores of the river and provides miles for you and your pup to investigate. Much of the trail is hard surfaced and shared with other users.
Argo Park is centrally located in the neighborhood and has a walking trail for pets and people to stroll the park. Recreational amenities such as an outdoor pool, baseball diamond, sports field, and playground are situated here.
