Overview

There's nothing quite like sleeping under the stars with your fur-babies. The Buckeye State has over 100 pet-friendly campgrounds, but choosing just one in a state with so many is tough. That's where we come in! We've narrowed down all the campgrounds in Ohio to the top 5 most pet-friendly places to stay with your pup.

Austin Lake Park

Address:
1002 Township Hwy 285A
Toronto, OH, 43964

Whether you're looking to stay for a night or a week, Austin Lake Park in Toronto is the place to be. This action-packed campground sits on an 80-acre lake, providing guests with an array of water activities. Pups can swim to their hearts' content in the lake's designated doggy swimming or hit the hiking trails with their parents.

Two-legged pack members will enjoy the inflatable water slides, obstacle course, and wide variety of watercraft rentals. You surely won't run out of things to do at Austin Lake Park!

Dayton KOA

Address:
7796 Wellbaum Rd
Brookville, OH, 45309

Dayton KOA is one of the most dog-friendly campgrounds in Ohio, thanks to its KampK9 program. The campground boasts a large dog park with plenty of room to romp around leash-free — as long as canine campers are under parental supervision, of course. The KampK9 area also has convenient clean-up and watering stations to ensure all your pup's needs are covered.

Human pack members can spend their days sifting through sand at the gem mine or relaxing by the pool. The campground also has sports courts where packs can enjoy some friendly competition. Boredom will be a thing of the past at this campground!

Wood's Tall Timber Lake Resort

Address:
1921 Tall Timber Rd NE
New Philadelphia, OH, 44663

Wood's Tall Timber Lake Resort is a "furrific" place to lay your head in New Philadelphia. Pet parents can choose between RV sites or primitive camping, but unfortunately, pets aren't allowed in the park's cabins, cottages, and houses.

This massive 157-acre camping resort is jam-packed with "pawsome" amenities to keep your pack busy during your stay. Hit the putt-putt course for some family fun, or try the zip line for an adrenaline rush. The biggest attraction of all is the lake, with giant inflatables and watercraft rentals to zoom around in. Kids will love the campground's playground, which sits right on the water's edge. This campground is sure to be a hit with the whole family!

Walnut Creek Campground & Resort

Address:
2342 Walnut Creek Rd
Chillicothe, OH, 45601

Whether you like to "ruff" it or glamping is more your style, this campground is for you. Walnut Creek is a sprawling campground and resort in southern Ohio. Unlike some other campgrounds on this list, pups are allowed in the cabins, tent, and RV sites, giving pet parents plenty of ways to stay.

Campers can spend their days swimming in the park's pool, hiking the nature trail, or doing a little wildlife watching. The sports complex is a great way for packs to keep active during their stay, with basketball courts, volleyball, and cornhole, to name a few.

Cross Creek Camping Resort

Address:
3190 S Old State Rd
Delaware, OH, 43015

Cross Creek Camping Resort is a family-oriented campground in the heart of Delaware, Ohio. This award-winning campground is just a bone's throw from Columbus Zoo and over 100 restaurants. But there's plenty of fun to be had within the park too!

Dogs will love the off-leash dog park, where they can spend their afternoon zipping around with other furry campers. Kids of all ages will have a blast sifting for gold at the on-site gem mine and exploring the pirate-themed playground. The park also has a nature trail where campers and their furry companions can explore. Your pack will be "pawsitively" begging to come back!
