Looking for somewhere to stay around Arizona’s capital? Well, you’re in for a treat. We’ve found 5 of the best campgrounds in Phoenix to visit with your pup this summer! Your pack will be barking about these campgrounds for weeks to come!
16501 N El Mirage Rd
Gear up for a "pawsome" time with a trip to Sunflower RV Resort. This lively RV park is situated about 30 minutes outside of Phoenix in the city of Surprise. Campers will have a blast at Sunflower RV resort, with sports courts, billiards, a craft bazaar, and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
Artistic types will feel right at home thanks to the crafts room, woodcarving studio, ceramics area, sewing room, and lapidary. After a long day of creating, unwind at the RV park’s salon and spa, or set an appointment with the on-site massage therapist.
There's an on-site dog park for pets to let loose too. Pet’s will love the agility equipment where they can crawl, jump, and zoom around leash-free. One thing's for sure — your pack is sure to leave this campground feeling refreshed!
22623 N Black Canyon Hwy
Surrounded by the beautiful Sonoran desert, Desert’s Edge is just a bone's throw from the metropolis. This campground is super pup-friendly. Woofers can take their pick from 2 off-leash dog parks and a dog run to get their zoomies out. Afterward, pups can get a blowout at the on-site dog grooming station.
There’s plenty around Desert’s Edge for humans to do, too. Get your workout in at the campground gym, relax in the rec room, or take a dip in the park’s heated pool. When you’ve worked up an appetite, grill some burgers on the free-to-use grills in the barbeque area. Needless to say, your pack is sure to love this family-centric campground.
19203 N 29th Ave
Desert Shadows RV Resort is a "furrific" campground in the heart of Phoenix. This campground hasn’t skimped on amenities, with a full book and video library, sports courts, a heated indoor pool, and a golf driving cage to keep campers entertained.
The campground regularly hosts exercise and crafting classes for pet parents who want to learn a thing or two. Pets are welcome at Desert Shadows, but there are some restrictions on pet quantity and breed, so you may want to call ahead.
5140 E Ingram St
If you like traditional tent camping, Tortilla Campground in Tonto National Forest is the spot for you and your fur-babies. This desert campground is well-known for its rugged beauty and stunning views of the desert night sky. Enjoy the scenery with a pack walk down Apache Trail, which is easily accessed from the campsites. Your pup will love getting back to nature in this gorgeous campground. Tortilla Campground is open from October to April when the weather is coolest.
1836 E Apache Blvd
Apache Palms is just a short 10-mile drive from bustling Phoenix. This RV park calls itself the “best RV park in Arizona,” and we couldn’t agree more. Between the low rates and amenities, this is definitely a top pick for pet parents looking to “glamp” on a budget.
The park is conveniently located near 7 golf courses and many of Phoenix’s most popular cultural destinations. Your pup will love the close proximity to hiking trails, where they can sniff and explore all the area has to offer. After a day of adventuring, wind down with a dip in the park’s hot tubs, or cool off in the pool.
