West End is a beautiful neighborhood surrounding George Washington University. It is located in downtown Washington, very close to the White House. Due to the naturally beautiful weather Washington is known for,  this area is absolutely beautiful almost all year. If this doesn't quite suit your fancy, there is an adorable local grocery store that has been around since 1946 and features a downstairs deli making unique and delicious sandwiches, soups, and salads. This area is uniquely snuggled between a large city and a large body of water surrounded by parks and forests. Because of this, the level of artificiality changes immensely depending on where the walker decides to go. If you go further east of the neighborhood, you will find flat and artificial landscapes as you enter the big city. However, if you choose to go west, you will run into countless beautiful bodies of water, parks, and some mountain ranges. This area is not only very natural, but can also get very hilly. The countless parks feature several trails which make it easy to enjoy the beautiful scenic views without necessarily having to endure grueling hills and high altitudes. However, there are some beautiful trails for more adventurous dog walkers that are willing to take on the more challenging paths. In a beautiful area like this, you are sure to find the perfect walking path for you.

Thanks to its location next to such a historic and culturally rich building as the White House,  the are several beautiful memorial parks in the area. A great example of this is the George Washington Memorial Parkway. It features several smaller parks themed after different government officials and has tons of trails and monuments to create a very interesting and enriching experience. Another beautiful monument park is the Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Park. This beautiful park is located in a riverside grove and has views of the National Mall.

Of course, this area wouldn't be complete without a park monument for the founding father, George Mason. He created the Virginia Declaration of independence which was used as the framework for the bill of rights. This great man helped our country immensely and was left a beautiful park filled with history that residents now get to enjoy for many years to come.
