Palisades is a small, residential neighborhood located in western Washington, D.C. It is located along the Potomac River where the border of Washington, D.C. and Virginia lies. The Palisades is largely a residential neighborhood and is composed of standalone, single-family homes.

However, the Palisades also has some commercial spaces. You will find several churches, a local hospital, and, in the southern part of the neighborhood, a few local restaurants and bars. Additionally, along MacArthur Boulevard, there is a local veterinarian, in case Fido needs a check-up or has a small injury.

Washington, D.C. is the capitol of the United States and is one of the most visited cities in the country. Both residents and visitors can explore the many national monuments and memorials, Smithsonian museums, see a show at the Kennedy Center, visit the National Zoo, or explore the many cultural neighobrhoods, like Chinatown, and try some authentic cusien.

This neighborhood is a suburb of Washington, D.C., so it is largely artificial terrain. However, the nearness to the Potomac River and its surrounding greenways help make this community feel a bit less urban than other D.C. suburbs. Thankfully, much of this neighborhood has well-maintained sidewalks, so you and your pup won't have to share the roadways with other pedestrians or motorists.

Palisades, like other D.C. suburbs, has quite a few hills. There are both rolling hills and those with more steep inclines, so you and Fido will definitely get a good daily workout in!

The boundaries of Palisades include: Norton Street, Little Falls Road, and Loughboro Road to the north, Chain Bridge Road to the southeast, with Canal Road and the Potomac River to the west. There is a popular hospital located in the northern part of the neighborhood, so the surrounding roads may have more congested traffic.

While there is only one greenway located in Palisades, there are several large and small greenways in the surrounding areas for you and your pup to explore.

Palisades Playground, the only greenway located in the neighborhood, is a small residential park with so much to offer! First, there is a great playground for children to play on and benches for you and your pup to sit and rest on. However, there is also a hidden "glass forest" located in this greenway. This public art installation is an incredibly cool place to explore if you're looking for a bit more scenery on your daily walk.

Outside of the neighborhood, you will find Battery Kemble Park, Glover Archbold Park, Foxhall Playground, Potomac Palisades Parkway, Spring Valley Park, and Little Falls Stream Valley Park. Additionally, to the west of the neighborhood and along the Potomac River, you will find the Capitol Crescent Trail, a long walking trail for you and your pup to explore.
