Give a Wag! Gives to Baton Rouge Shelters

Friends of the Animals Baton Rouge's mission is to rescue all neglected, homeless, abused and abandoned pets and find them special, forever homes to live the rest of their lives in safety and love.

Friends of the Animals have an open area adoption home where the dogs can run and play while potential adopters get a chance to meet and cuddle with them. The Dog Adoption House has been opened since 2013 and is open every day of the week. At the end of the day, the dogs go back to the foster families. If you are looking to adopt a new loving creature into your home and heart, please stop by the Dog Adoption House!

It is important that the whole family meets your potential new pup so the staff can see the interaction between your entire family and the dog. Once your new family member comes to your house, it may take them a few days to make them self at home and get used to the noises, other pets and routines. Be patient with them. Friends of the Animals has an on-site trainer, so if you have any questions at all about your new pet's behavior, please contact the Dog Adoption House.

If you would like to volunteer, stop by the Dog Adoption House anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the week. (The Dog Adoption House is most busy on the weekends so the staff can't take on new volunteers during that time). There are plenty of things that need to be done during the week as well. All the pets need volunteers to take them in and out of their play areas and watch them interact with each other to make sure there is no ruff housing. The dogs also need to be pampered, brushed, bathed and cuddled. If you can volunteer any of your time, it would be greatly appreciated by the staff and the dogs.

If you would like to donate money or items to the shelter - their current wishlist includes:  cleaning supplies, collars, leashes, food, dog bowls, beds, poopy bags, gas cards (for transporting the pets), toys and treats.

Please consider adopting a new furry friend from Friends of the Animals or become a volunteer or foster family.  If we all work together, think of what can be accomplished!
