Growing with that is the number of shelters, humane societies, pooch organizations, and dog rescue groups in the city as well!
As always, one of the most paw-pular and well-known associations in the area is the Humane Society of Pinellas. Responsible for sheltering, saving, and caring for thousands of pets every year, the shelter is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has been open since 1949. More than just an adoption agency, the Humane Society of Pinellas is always working toward strengthening the bonds between pets and people, offering education on pup parenting, spay and neutering services, and space for homeless animals needing rescue.
Another Clearwater organization that's making a difference in canine's lives is SPCA Tampa Bay. Though it services the entire Tampa Bay area, its tentacles reach down into Clearwater as well. SPCA Tampa Bay is the only non-profit, open admission animal shelter in Pinellas County, caring for more than 8,000 animals at a time! They shelter animals, provide educational programs, and provide vetrinary care as well.
