If you love dogs and believe that every dog deserves to find happiness with a loving owner, you’ll feel right at home in Del Rio. This Florida community features a tight-knit group of dog lovers and is also well served by a number of animal welfare organizations that protect pets throughout the Tampa area.
SPCA Tampa Bay is one of those organizations. As the only non-profit, open-admission animal shelter and public veterinary center in Pinellas County, SPCA Tampa Bay cares for more than 8,000 surrendered animals every year. Dogs, cats, livestock, and a range of exotic animals receive the care, treatment, and behavioural training they need while at the center, and there is no time limit on how long an animal can stay at the shelter. The organization’s dedicated adoptions volunteers then work tirelessly to match animals with loving owners based on their lifestyle, living arrangements, and personalities.
With a vision to create a community where every animal matters, SPCA Tampa Bay is an independent non-profit and is not affiliated with any national humane associations. It’s always on the lookout for donations and volunteers, so lend your support if you can.
Maxx & Me Pet Rescue is another group dedicated to helping pets in need in and around Del Rio. This non-profit group offers canine and feline rescue and adoption services throughout the greater Tampa area. Staffed entirely by volunteers, Maxx & Me does not have its own shelter and is a foster-based rescue.
With a commitment to care for animals regardless of size, age, or health, the group relies on community support to continue saving the lives of animals. If you’d like to help, find out how you can donate today.
