Give a Wag! Gives to Fayetteville Shelters

A large no-kill facility in the Fayetteville area, Fayetteville Animal Protection Society, rehomes thousands of animals annually. This shelter links locals to dozens of resources available to them ranging from subsidized veterinary care and training programs. FAPS hosts a number of fundraising and adoption events such as Woofstock and Pints for Pups. In addition to their community programs, this shelter has started certain initiatives that waive adoption fees for veterans and senior citizens.

Acting as the official animal care and control entity of the municipality of Fayetteville, Cumberland County Animal Control is responsible for many tasks in the community. They answer all calls regarding instances of neglect, abuse, strays, nuisances, and other miscellaneous threats to health and safety. Cumberland County also distributes pet licenses and returns lost animals with their families. While they have a shelter space, it is often overcrowded, so this shelter works closely with local nonprofits to ensure more pets have a fighting chance.

Serving Hoke and Cumberland counties, Tilted Acres Rescue and Adoption is a no-kill nonprofit rescue group working to resolve Fayetteville’s homeless animal problem. Run from the generosity of volunteers, this shelter takes a one of a kind approach to rescue. TARA is unique because it rescues dogs one by one, offering an intimate rehabilitative experience for every dog that comes through its tightly knit foster network. Adopting an animal from TARA promises an animal that is well socialized with all of the proper veterinary milestones met.
