The Haven for Dogs, Inc. is an all-volunteer, not for profit 501(c)(3) organization in Lexington, Kentucky dedicated to finding loving, forever homes for abandoned and homeless dogs.  Their mission is "To reduce companion animal homelessness by placing homeless dogs into loving, responsible homes, and by helping to maintain successful placement of dogs in those homes."  


If you are looking for a forever family member, would like to volunteer, foster or make a donation of any kind, the staff at The Haven for Dogs would love to meet you! There is no physical shelter for their furry, adoptable friends. The staff at The Haven for Dogs believes in no bars or cages; instead placing all of their fur babies with loving foster families. The foster families give the dogs much-needed love and attention, which is not only SO much fun for the foster family but also vital for the dog's emotional and physical well-being. 


The foster family will also help socialize their foster pup with other people, kids and pets.  They will teach them basic obedience, feed them only the finest, most nutritious food and play with them daily.  If you are interested in adopting on the dogs on their website, the fee is $110.00.  This fee will cover spaying/neutering, current vaccinations, microchip identification and general care.  


Potential adoptive parents will need to have an interview with the staff to be sure that their house is the best forever house for their furry baby. These dogs to have their long-awaited happily ever after. Pet adoption is not to be taken lightly. It is a commitment to care for an animal for its entire life, and it requires love, patience and respect. In return, you just may receive the love of your new pet!

Enjoy a day of art with your favorite pup by your side. Paint alongside all the Wildcat Service Dog pups, at a class taught by WSD alumni Isabell Park. Can't paint worth a lick? No worries! Izzy will guide you through it and at the end of the day, you will have a remarkable, one of a kind fur-ever keepsake. The cost is $35.00 which includes a 16x20 canvas, paint and supplies. All proceeds benefit Wildlife Service Dogs. Be sure to wear painting pawty-friendly clothes!  Wildcat Service Dogs is a student-run organization with the University of Kentucky. They raise and train service dogs, and educate the public about their work. Please come and join the fun at UK AG Science Building for this worthy cause!

This dog-friendly, annual Christmas parade takes place in nearby Winchester, Kentucky.  Come spread some holiday cheer with hundreds of your fellow festive-seeking, parade goers!  This event is presented by Masons of Right Angle Lodge 233 F&AM.  This year's theme is "A Magical, Musical Christmas".  May your holiday season be filled with laughter, love and memories of joy!  The parade will wind through the streets of downtown Winchester and will begin at 6:00 p.m. sharp.  Be sure to get there in plenty of time to snag a great curbside seat, and don't forget your chairs!  Dogs need to stay on their leash while downtown and please pick up after them should they go potty during the paw-ty!  Happy Pawlidays everyone!

Fido gets to take home a free Lulu's Pet Pantry goodie bag.  Tell Santa Paws your wish list and go home with a treasured 5x7 print of your pup! Admission is $10.00 and benefits Lucky Tales Rescue. Lucky Tales Rescue in Burlington, Kentucky is a newly formed and rapidly growing 501(c)(3) tax-exempt rescue dedicated to achieving proper placement by matching animals to the perfect forever homes, while also educating the community about properly caring for and loving all of God's creatures. Please join them for this wonderful event that benefits a great cause.

Every Saturday SAVE (Saving Animals, Volunteering, Education), bring their adorable, adoptable furry friends to Hollywood Feed for this adoption event. SAVE is a non-profit animal rescue dedicated to caring, helping, training and placing homeless abandoned, abused, injured and ill pets throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Come in and browse the natural and holistic pet foods while you are there and maybe, just maybe, you will leave with a new furry member of the family!

Grab Fido and head to Feeders Supply in Lexington, Kentucky. Brush your pup's fur, pop in a doggy breath mint and get him ready for his photo with the one and only Santa Paws! Grab some antlers, a costume, a Santa hat - whatever you'd like for Fido to wear in his photo with Santa Paws. All proceeds will go to benefit the over 5000 animals the Lexington Humane Society cares for every year. The Lexington Humane Society does so much good for so many needy paws; please come in and say thank you! You can also make a donation or sign up to volunteer. Get your fur-ever keepsake of your barky buddy and his hero, Santa Paws! All pups must be on their leash while waiting for their time with Santa and be sure to be a considerate paw-rent and clean up after your pet. Happy paw-lidays!
