Give a Wag! Gives to Mesquite Shelters

The Texan city of Mesquite sits just to the east of Dallas, which means it’s well within reach of a host of dog-friendly parks, attractions, and activities. It also means the city is part of a wider community of dog lovers and animal welfare advocates, and there’s always someone ready to help a dog down on its luck get its life back on track.

East Dallas Pet Rescue is a perfect example. Staffed entirely by volunteers, this no-kill rescue group aims to provide a safe home for street, shelter, and abandoned dogs. An independent non-profit, East Dallas Pet Rescue is not affiliated with any national organization or humane shelter, so the adoption, clinical, and care services it provides are only possible thanks to generous donations from the community.

When dogs are facing euthanasia in crowded shelters or strays are in urgent need of care and a roof over their head, this dedicated group of volunteers gives them a safe place to go. It provides the temporary shelter and care they need until they can be placed into a loving forever home.

The SPCA of Texas also works tirelessly to protect and help at-risk animals in Mesquite and across the entire state. With two shelters and three spay/neuter clinics located in Dallas and McKinney, this organization has been helping local pets since 1938. With a mission to give every animal exceptional care and a loving home, the SPCA of Texas rescues and adopts out thousands of animals each year. And with no funding from the government or any humane organizations, the organization is always happy to accept donations and new volunteers.
