Give a Wag! Gives to Birmingham Shelters

No matter where you're from, the South is always happy to welcome you! That is especially true if you love animals and are looking for a place to spend time with your furry friends.  From the amazing people and culture to the variety of events and activities that are dog-friendly, Alabama has proven itself to be one very happy state.

One of the best things about animal-friendly cities is the dedication we can find towards finding homes for the homeless pets of the region. This is true of Birmingham, Alabama, more than we could have imagined. Not only are there great associations available such as the ASPCA locations, but there are some pawsome people running their own 501(c)3 rescue organizations as well.

For example, you'll probably want to stop in and visit the outstanding people at Hand in Paw, an agency dedicated to animal-assisted therapy for us humans. We couldn't resist giving them a mention, as these programs help a lot of homeless pups and purrs find a useful purpose and loving care.

When it comes to rescuing those wayward pups, the folks at Support Paws do a great job of fostering for the Shelby County Humane Society, as well as taking in lost souls when they can. They make sure to provide immediate veterinary care for those in need and work hard to rehabilitate furbabies before they go on to their fur-ever homes.

Finally, the shining star for rescuing pups in need, and humans too, is Soldiers for Strays.  The paws-itively amazing people that manage this program are dedicated to more than just finding and rescuing guardian breeds and bulldog breeds. They have made it their mission to provide the perfect combination of services by aiding many veterans in finding housing, source employment, and get back on their feet in society.  We think they are ter-ruff-ic!
