Huntsville Animal Shelter is the official animal shelter for the local council. It provides a pickup service for unwanted, abandoned and neglected dogs. It also has a small volunteer group who help to care for the animals. All of the needed funds to run this shelter come from the council and from adoption fees. The organization often holds free adoption days to encourage the local community to adopt the rescued animals. They also offer a spay and neuter assistance program, along with pet licensing. The Huntsville Animal Shelter is an all-around great shelter that helps these special animals in need.
Then there's the fabulous Greater Huntsville Humane Society. It is a No-Kill establishment whose purpose is to find forever homes for the many animals in its sanctuary. This animal shelter is often full and only accepts surrendered animals if they have had all their vaccinations, been spayed and neutered, and have no behavioral problems. It has a wide support network with numerous volunteers on board and relies on donations for support.
Ark Inc. is another local shelter committed to their no-kill policy. They value their mission statement and vision to re-home as many homeless dogs into the wider community as possible. They provide all of the medical care that the animals need, spaying and neutering these creatures before finding them loving forever homes. To support this wonderful place, you are welcomed to volunteer your time or to make a monetary donation to help them keep their doors open.
