The Sebastian County Humane Society is a remarkable animal shelter that supports the local community and provides a safe haven for neglected, lost, abused and abandoned dogs. This animal shelter operates a No-Kill plan and no animals are euthanized except for those that cannot be medically and socially be rehabilitated.
They systematically support several thousand animals each year and are pro-active in providing the animals with medical care, socialization, and spay and neuter operations. Most days there are over 100 animals waiting to be seen to or be adopted out. Each year 150 volunteers pass their gates to help look after the animals - and of course, play with them! They also hold a variety of events to help fundraise for the animal shelter.
They are a non-profit, full-service animal-welfare and protection agency that relies on donations from local community groups, businesses and the general public. They do not mind holding animals as long as they need to, keeping dogs in need for a year or longer if necessary.
The Sebastian County Humane Society Animal Shelter have their own vet on board as well as having special relationships with several vets in the local area. They are needed for urgent cases and specializations in different medical surgeries. Unfortunately, due to state law, they are unable to help the public with their veterinarian services. If you are intending to adopt an animal from this shelter you will need to fill out a questionnaire and provide your photo identification. The fee to adopt a dog from this shelter is $100.
