Arkansas is a state that loves its animals, be they wild or domestic. That is why it is no surprise that we found places in the Sherwood, Arkansas area that are fighting hard to help animals find their fur-ever homes every day!
For example, Rock City Rescue is one of the outstanding dog and cat rescues in the area comprised of fosters and volunteers. These amazing people take time out of their schedules to help rescue animals from high-kill shelters where they may never have a chance at a home and place them with fosters until they find their new families. It is quite a miracle for these animals to be saved from kill shelters.
Then there is Sherwood Animal Services, who work hard to bring lost pets in off of the streets as well as answer the many calls of the local population. Serving both as Animal Control and a shelter, they know all too well what can happen when dogs and cats are allowed to roam outside unattended. That is why they try to focus on education, prevention, and owner awareness.
No matter where you look in Sherwood, there is someone giving a pet a reason to “smile” and that's what makes this region so special. With so many folks striving to provide their furbabies with great homes and locate homes for the four-legged wonders that need a loving family, you'd think there would be no need for events! However, that is not the case, as every shelter needs help from their friends. So consider giving your time or funds to help further these efforts!
This great event is held at Trapnall Hall, where people are more than welcome to bring their furry pals and try some excellent quality wine while socializing with friends and furballs alike. The entire region will be wagging their tongues about this event, as it seems to be the premier pet event for the area and is scheduled to have a great turnout!
You can take part in a silent auction, wine pull, or meet some of the fluffy attendees from CARE Inc., whom the event will be supporting. Both paws and claws are welcome to attend, as long as their parents agree to supervise them while having a bit of fun.
The annual It's Reigning Cats and Dogs event is quite the to-do. You'll want to be sure your four-legged family is ready to shine. This event is arranged to support the Humane Society of Pulaski County, who has been serving the area for quite a long time.
You'll have the opportunity to meet some of their star players, stayers, and former strayers who have enjoyed the benefits that the Humane Society provides to an area in need. These four-legged superstars are looking for love and licking faces, so be sure to treat yourself to some furry-faced attention.
The event will be serving to support the Emergency Medical Services Fund of the society shelter, which has been successfully saving animals left, right, and center. Their recent parvo survivor, Max, is sure to welcome the donations as well, since he benefited from the support of such a great community and wants all of his doggone friends to have that chance, too!
Doggie Paddle Day is a sponsored event held at the Jim Dailey Fitness Center where everything is going to the dogs, including some great prizes! From enjoying a swim in the pool to the paw-mazing dock jumping contest, it is a howling good time for all of our four-legged friends. Plus, what is more fun than getting your car smelling like a wet dog?
Don't forget to pick up after your pooch, though, as you'll want to be allowed back in the future! You're sure to create some great memories and maybe even some new friends at the Market District. And we're sure you'll find plenty of time for selfies of you and your canine compadre!
Be sure to stop in and meet some of the locals, make a few new friends, and wag a few tails, as you're sure to find plenty of entertainment and play opportunities!
