Casa Grande Mountain Trails
Just ten miles from Casa Grande you and your pooch can explore the natural beauty of this 1,000-acre park. Seventeen miles of mixed-use trails wind through rugged, Sonoran Desert landscape. At its highest point, the mountain reaches an elevation of 2,538 feet! Looking for an easy and accessible hike? Head to the northern Peart Trailhead. For those seeking more challenging terrain, start your hike at the Arica Trailhead. Established trails are marked but it’s a good idea to download the park’s trail map before heading out. Picacho Peak State Park
Thirty minutes south of Casa Grande you can’t miss the unique and prominent 1,500-foot peak of Picacho Peak State Park! The park is open year-round and leashed dogs are welcome. Come explore this geological wonder, camp in the desert landscape, and learn about the history of the area. A couple of easy hiking trails are doable for most dogs, but be aware that hiking trails at the park vary in difficulty. Pay attention to signs, wear sturdy shoes, and use your best judgement when it comes to furry hiking partners. And don’t forget to bring water for humans and pups—the park recommends carrying 2-4 liters per person (or pooch)!
