Launched in 1991, a group of Sun Valley residents gathered together to help the homeless, abandoned, abused and neglected animals. It is a non-profit organization that relies on local businesses, groups and the general public to donate to the cause. It operates a No-Kill policy and offers compassion and medical intervention to the animals that need their assistance.
Glendale Humane Society is another tiny, non-profit animal shelter that has been around for just under 100 years. This marvelous shelter provides a wide range of services, taking in animals and caring for them, giving them medical care, comforting them and finding permanent homes for them. They have a range of adoption programs and training classes, and they host a variety of events throughout the year. There is a small volunteer network that helps support this shelter by fundraising for the organization.
Little Rascals Rescue is yet another animal shelter in Glendale, AZ. It is a non-profit organization that provides a sanctuary for all animals including those with acute medical conditions and behavioral problems. Ran by a group of volunteers, this lovely animal shelter does not turn away any animal no matter their age, condition or temperament. It relies on sponsors along with business and local community donations. They hold a number of dog events throughout the year to help fundraise for the shelter. They also have a great adoption program that provides homes to abandoned, abused or neglected cats and dogs.

This bark-tacular dog-friendly event takes place every Friday at 83rd and Union Hills in front of Sam’s Club. This event is free to attend, so come check out the vast number of food trucks while a live DJ plays good tunes. There is also a bouncy castle for the kids to have fun on. All of the food trucks take both cards and cash. So get ready for a tummy-rumbling festival of tastes that will leave you on cloud nine. The kids will enjoy it and so will your pupper!
Omega Tau Sigma is hosts this superb, 3.2-mile long race at Midwestern University. Run, walk or jog with your pet doggies around two loops of the campus. Leashes are required in order to keep all canines safe. As part of the entrance fee, you will get a t-shirt, a race bib, and food and drinks courtesy of the organizers. There will be a whole lot of fun, with raffles, games for the kids and a doggie contest, if you wish to participate. Children under the age of 12 are free.
All the K-9’s of the local Police Department and the Air Force are out for this paw-some doggie event. With a bucket load of fun things scheduled to take place, it should be fun for the whole family - including your pooch! This free event provides free dog treats, a glorious pet massage (lucky dogs), animal blessings, great pet photo oppourtunities, and an assortment of pet accessories and goodies. There is even a pool just for pups to dip their paws in. Get up and go to this event, it's a guaranteed crowd pleaser.
This amazing park has everything you could wish for including a skateboarding park, a sports park and even picnic areas with grills. The dog section is fully fenced, with lots of grassy areas, shade, and a small agility course located within the park.
