Give a Wag! Gives to Alpine Shelters

The Alpine area is a quiet playground with plenty of hidden oppawtunities waiting to be discovered.

Fueled by their mission of “saving one small tail at a time,” Small Tails Best Friend Rescue is committed to saving dogs from high kill shelters and pairing them with their forever homes. They spay and neuter all their rescue animals and give them all of their shots. They even micro-chip all the animals so they can help keep their dogs safe. Small Tails Best Friend rescue has paired over 150 animals with their fur-ever homes and families.

Part dog resort, part rescue, Four Paws Pet Rescue believes every dog deserves a loving family and home. Located east of Alpine, the non-profit functions entirely on volunteer power and all donations go toward medical, physical, and emotional needs of the animals at the rescue. Although they specialize in the Coonhound breed, they rescue a slew of other breeds of all sizes and take in many dogs that have medical issues.

The Koalition of Rescuers and Animal Lovers’ mission is to help give a second change to shelter animals, especially those on a euthanasia list. They are committed to serving underserved, neglected, unwanted, and/or abused animals and are devoted to implementing efforts to increase awareness of responsible pet ownership, promote animal welfare, cruelty prevention, and voluntary public service.

Although not a traditional animal rescue, Shelter Pet Partners has been saving animal lives since 2003. This non-profit partners with other area shelters and rescues “at risk” animals from the shelters and brings them into their care. Once back to health, Shelter Pet Partners then fosters dogs in various homes while they find their perfect family and home.

A passionate, volunteer-run non-profit, The Barking Lot animal rescue has taken in over 5,000 dogs since it opened in 2010. Their mission is to find happy forever families for abandoned dogs at kill shelters. The Barking Lot’s most recent achievement was in late 2016, when they partnered with Soi Dog Foundation, a Thailand-based non-profit devoted to improving the welfare of dogs and cats in Asia. They’ve rescued and flown in one group of dogs every month since the partnership
