My name is Paul McKenna, I'm a retired aerospace worker and have owned dogs throughout my lifetime. I've owned breeds as small as Chihuahua and as large as Rottweiler and have loved interacting with all of them. I love walking with dogs because it allows me to clear my mind of the complexities of life and enjoy a simple, living pleasure. Walking is also an excellent form of exercise for both the dog and myself.

I just moved to San Diego from Connecticut, and was looking for for a good way to meet new dogs and explore the area. I’ve had 8 dogs throughout my life, from Rottweiler to Golden Retriever to Shih Tzu, and I used to volunteer at an animal shelter in Connecticut. I’ve been walking dogs for as long as I have been walking myself, and they are by far my favorite creatures!

Dog Boarding in El Cajon

Established in 2010, The Barking Lot Rescue is manned entirely by volunteers. A non-profit shelter, it has helped to rescue and save thousands of dogs over recent years. This includes the rescue of dogs from kill shelters in order to find them loving homes and families so that they can enjoy a second chance at life. The rescue has also now partnered with Thailand’s Soi Dog Foundation, which carries out invaluable work in relation to rescuing dogs that are destined for slaughter. This rescue has helped to fly dogs out of Thailand on a monthly basis in order to save their lives and find them loving homes.

East County Animal Rescue is a shelter that provides an invaluable service not only in terms of rescuing and re-homing unwanted and homeless animals but also in a range of other ways. Some of the animals here cannot be adopted for various reasons, so they have a permanent home at the rescue. There are many others that are adopted and get to enjoy the thrill of a new home and a loving family. The rescue also provides educational programs, treatment and vaccination services, and provides valuable advice to pet owners. The rescue has been running since 2002, with volunteers working hard to provide new homes and safe environments for animals in need.

El Cajon Dog and Cat Animal Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue that takes in dogs and cats from various sources. This includes stray animals, those from other rescues and shelters, and those that are brought in by owners who can no longer look after them. The rescue helps many pets each year to find new homes. This facility runs a range of community programs such as education programs so that others can learn about caring for and saving the lives of animals. There are also various adoption events that the rescue organizes each year.
