Jose is the absolute best dog sitter! We are so incredibly lucky to have found him. We have 4 large dogs; a pitbull mastiff, 2 staffies and a blue nose. Our dogs immediately took a liking to Jose the moment they met him, they were just drawn to him. We left for the entire day and he had them out of their crates, playing outside, roaming the house, and getting individual attention. He sent us regular updates throughout the day with pictures, and when we got home at the end of the day, they were fed, crated and ready for bed. He is literally the best!

Dog Days of Summer
Summer in Elk Grove is a beautiful time of year, and the best way to experience the warmer weather is to get out and about with your four-legged friend by your side. And that’s exactly what this fur-iffic annual event encourages you to do! Hosted by Elk Grove Animal Services, Dog Days of Summer is a fun family day out for dog owners and their pets. Held in Elk Grove Regional Park, it features a whole heap of on-site vendors and games, an agility course, food trucks, and the world-famous Elk Grove Pets Got Talent Show. Why not give it a go and soak up some sunshine with your pet?

Wag n Walk
Before you head along to the Dog Days of Summer, you can work up a sweat with your pet at Elk Grove Animal Services’ annual Wag n Walk event. Dogs and their humans are invited to enjoy a 1.4-mile stroll around Elk Grove Regional Park, calling in at various dog-friendly paw-stops along the way. These include a bone bar and hydration station, which are perfect if you want to reward your pet for doing the hard yards with you. And when the walk is over, you and your furry friend can either call it a day or continue on to enjoy the fun and festivities of the Dog Days of Summer event.24
Sacramento SPCA Doggy Dash
Dachshunds, Dobermanns, Dalmatians, and dog breeds of all shapes and sizes come together each April for the annual Sacramento SPCA Doggy Dash. Held at William Land Park, this is the largest dog 5k/2k walk and festival event anywhere in the Sacramento area. You, your friends, and your dogs are all invited to pound the pavement for this fun social event. After the walk, you and your canine companion can explore the Bark in the Park Festival, which features doggy demonstrations and contests, food and drink, and scores of vendor stalls. To top it off, this pet-acular day of fun helps Sacramento SPCA care for more than 7,000 animals each year.

What could possibly be more enjoyable than a pub crawl with your dog by your side? Well, how about if that pub crawl took in some of Sacramento’s best breweries? Even better, what if the whole thing raised money for a good cause like the Sacramento SPCA? Sacramento SPCA’s annual Pup Crawl takes place in early December and sees animal lovers and their furry friends a chance to enjoy this new paw-liday tradition. There are discounted drinks, Santa photos for your pet, and a range of dog-friendly activities throughout the day to keep those tails wagging.
Wag Hotels’ Haunted Howl-o-ween Party
Get into the spirit of Halloween with your fur-kid at this fun family event. Held at Wag Hotels West Sacramento in the days leading up to Halloween, the Haunted Howl-o-ween Party is a sniff-tastic night out for pets and their owners. With you and your pet dressed in your best costumes, head along to the haunted (for one night a year only) hotel and enjoy a costume contest, beer and wine, local vendors, and of course, trick-or-treating. This is one howl-iday event you and your pet will never forget!
