Cardiff Dog Days of Summer
A few miles away from the beautiful Encinitas, you'll find the beautiful Cardiff-by-the-Sea's annual Cardiff Dog Days of Summer. Pile your pup in the car, head out to Cardiff and join in for this summer fair just for dogs and their pawrents. Hosted by the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, you and your pooch can enter pup contests, enjoy live music, shop around the doggo vendors, and meet other local pups. Celebration of Second Chances
One of the most anticipated annual events put on by the Rancho Coastal Humane Society is back, the Celebration of Second Chances! Described as the night where animal lovers can all meet in one room, the Celebration of Second Chances is a huge event where pups and their pawrents can help raise money for the humane society, update donors on past pets at the shelter, and even pawticipate in fun events like speed painting! There's sure to be delicious food, drinks, and fun pup activities, too!12
Doggo Trails
It wouldn't be California without plenty of outside activities that you and your pup can explore together, and Encinitas is nothing if not a space for exploration! Some of the most popular trails in the area include the San Elijo Lagoon Trail and the Village Park Trail. The Lagoon Trail is a 3-mile hike that will take you and Fido about two hours to complete together. It's a fun hike, but watch out, it can get muddy! The other fun trail, Village Park, is a low-key nature hike where your pooch can run around off-leash!
Pup Parks
What good is a city without a few off-leash dog parks where your pooch can run free? Luckily, Encinitas has a variety of pawpular parks that your pup can explore. One of the most well-known parks is the Viewpoint Off-Leash Dog Area, a play area with designated hours where Fido can run free! This dog haven is a well-shaded, city park. Another park your pooch might enjoy is the Maggie Houlihan Memorial Dog Park, a separated, fenced-in doggie play area that has plenty of space for free-running, lots of shade, and enough watering stations for everyone.
