Give a Wag! Gives to Fort Bragg Shelters

For more than thirty years, the Mendocino Coast Humane Society has been making a positive difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them throughout Fort Bragg and the surrounding community. The nonprofit animal welfare organization was incorporated into the state in 1987 and is publicly funded, relying on the generosity of donors to support their life-saving efforts. Each month, they provide safe shelter and compassionate care to an average of 30 dogs and 65 cats through the work of dedicated staff and volunteers.

The primary mission of the Mendocino Coast Humane Society is to facilitate a better life for homeless animals and inspire public awareness of animal needs. The organization's community education and outreach advocates for the mitigation of pet overpopulation, prevention of the euthanasia of healthy companion animals, and an end to animal suffering. Their services for the community's pets and people include accessible spay/neuter procedures, a foster program, humane education, training programs, and animal adoptions. The shelter even operates a Mobile Pet Adoptions van enabling them to connect more of the local community with dogs and cats in need of loving, responsible homes!

Before being rehomed, every animal that seeks safe haven in their comfortable, secure adoption center receives complete medical attention and testing, a spay/neuter procedure, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip, flea treatment, deworming, socialization, and kind-hearted care. The compassionate individuals operating the Adoption Center take it upon themselves to unite deserving dogs and cats with appropriate forever families. In everything they do, the shelter strives to improve the lives of the area's animals and provide community assistance in regards to the care and well-being of companion animals. The Mendocino Coast Humane Society is committed to strengthening the community for both pets and people.
