Sammie’s Friends is a Grass Valley animal shelter that takes in dogs as well as cats, horses, and barnyard animals! Their mission is to provide medical care and to adopt out the rescue dogs and other animals so that they can enjoy a comfortable life in a fur-ever home with a loving new family. The shelter also runs a community program that is designed to help pets that are in need of veterinary care in cases where the owners are unable to afford the fees due to low income.
This animal shelter takes in dogs, cats, and other animals with a view to getting them fostered or adopted so that they are not euthanized. Their mission is to provide homeless and abandoned animals a second chance at life by finding them a loving home. The shelter even deals with socializing, spaying/neutering, and vaccinating all rescue dogs and animals before they look for a permanent home for them. This shelter relies on donations to carry out the fantastic work that they do. Those wishing to donate can do so via their website.
Named after one of her own dogs, Scooter, who sadly died in a tragedy a decade ago, the founder of this shelter has dedicated her life to dog rescue. Susan Wallace manages to help hundreds of dogs each year through a variety of events, programs, and through adoption to loving families. The charity also promotes dog sponsorship for those that are unable to adopt a dog but would like to do their bit to help. All money that the charity raises through donations and sponsorship is put toward the treatment of animals and payment of veterinary bills.
Many of us are used to taking our kids along to see Santa Claus in the run-up to Christmas. Well, thanks to the Sammie’s Friends shelter you can now take your beloved pooch along to see Santa Paws. The event is held at the animal shelter and you can take your pet along for a photo with Santa for just the price of a donation to the charity! You can also indulge in a delicious light lunch while you are there, making this a great festive day out for both you and your dog!
While you won’t be expected to teach your pooches to tee off for this event, you are certainly welcome to bring them along to enjoy a golfing day that is designed to benefit shelter animals! The event is being run by Sammie’s Friends and Pet Pantry and the mission is to raise funds for rescue animals to get them treatment and towards food for the shelters. This annual event is relatively new and it promises to be a great day out for the whole family – including your pooch!
This is a wonderful place for dogs to have some fun, take in the fresh air, and even make some new canine friends! The fenced off area spans 1.7 acres and is part of Condon Park in Grass Valley. The area is located close to the pine forest, so although it is not a grassed area, there is still plenty of room for dogs to enjoy themselves. There is even a separate fenced off area especially for dogs that are shy! The aim of this facility is to help pooches to socialize with one another –and even to encourage the owners to socialize with one another as well, making it a wonderful community facility.
When it comes to a great day out for adults, children, and dogs, this park is an excellent choice! This is a place that is filled with history, natural beauty, and a host of attractions. Dogs are welcome visitors here and there are plenty of areas where they can explore. They can even go inside some of the buildings including the Empire Cottage and the Clubhouse. There are also fresh water facilities for dogs at strategic points around the park so your pooch won’t go thirsty!
