My name is Sam and I have taken care of 400+ dogs and cats in the past few years. I am currently obtaining my real estate license, but I still want to work with animals as much as I can. I love being a dog walker and also volunteering weekly at a local animal shelter. I look forward to meeting you and your pet(s)!

I just moved to San Diego from Connecticut, and was looking for for a good way to meet new dogs and explore the area. I’ve had 8 dogs throughout my life, from Rottweiler to Golden Retriever to Shih Tzu, and I used to volunteer at an animal shelter in Connecticut. I’ve been walking dogs for as long as I have been walking myself, and they are by far my favorite creatures!

La Mesa, California, is situated near San Diego, which happens to be home to some amazing animal shelters that are dedicated to caring for homeless, abused, abandoned, and neglected animals during their times of need.
The San Diego Humane Society has been providing animal care and adoption services to the San Diego area since 1880. Now, the San Diego Humane Society operates shelters in Escondido, Oceanside, and San Diego. As the oldest non-profit organization in San Diego, the group has helped thousands of animals get a second chance at life. The organization helps investigate animal cruelty and neglect cases, as well as provides spaying and neutering for animals in the area. As a non-profit organization, the San Diego Humane Society relies on donations and fundraisers to keep providing services to animals in need.
The Barking Lot is a non-profit organization that helps dogs find their perfect forever families. Relying on a small group of volunteers, this organization uses foster families to help care for dogs, as well as a rescue facility that can house dogs until they find new homes. With the help of generous donors, The Barking Lot is able to save more and more animals from euthanasia or homelessness. The recent addition of the rescue facility has given the organization the ability to help even more animals.
If you live in the La Mesa area and are looking for a new pet, consider contacting one of these organizations. You are bound to find the perfect pet for your household at The Barking Lot or the San Diego Humane Society.

Each February, the San Diego Botanic Garden holds a 5k walk through the garden for the dogs in the area. The 5k Paw Walk in the Garden gives local dog owners and their dogs the opportunity to exercise with some beautiful plants from Australia, Hawaii, California, and many other states and countries around the world!
There will also be treats for both humans and dogs during the event, and you can browse through vendor booths to look at great pet products that are available for purchase.
The admission fee for the walk will be $32 per adult for non-members. Members can walk for just $21. Children under 18 can participate for just $21, and child members of the garden walk for just $14.
Dozens of rescue organizations in the area come together each year for the Santa Paws Holiday Pet Adoption Event with the goal of getting animals into new forever homes in time for the holiday season. Typically taking place the first weekend in December, the event showcases cats, dogs, turtles, birds, and other animals that are in need of new homes!
Bring your current pets to help you decide on a new furry friend! This event is hosted by the San Diego Animal Support Foundation and features animals from Dogs Fur Days, Open Arms Rescue of San Diego, and other local rescues.
If you are ready for an afternoon of fun and games, head over to Harry Griffen Park each October for the Carnival 4 Canines event!
