The Strand
If you're in a city that's actually named Oceanside, chances are, you're going to want to hang out by the ocean. Knowing you, you won't want to do that without your pup, either. Luckily, there's a special spot for you and your pooch to enjoy the salty air and beach-side atmosphere. The Strand, as the locals call it, is a boardwalk path that runs a mile parallel to the ocean where you and your (leashed) pup can leisurely walk and bond. While there aren't any beaches directly in Oceanside that allow your pup to roam freely, you and your doggo can visit neighboring beaches like Ocean Beach, Cardiff State Beach, and Del Mar's Dog Beach if Fido needs to put his paws in the sand.36
Pets on Parade
The annual Pets on Parade event is back just in time to get your pup into the holiday spirit! As you and your pooch start to figure out your holiday traditions, don't forget to add the Pets on Parade Event to your list. You and your canine compadre can head down to the Carlsbad Village Christmas tree for the start of the event. Then, take a leisurely stroll around the village, munch on complimentary human cookies and of course, doggo treats, and even purchase a few tickets for prize drawings. You can enjoy live music, popcorn, and more treats - and best of all, special guests who arrive early will be given the chance to take pictures with Santa!24
Fur Ball Gala
Slap on your tuxes and clean off your snouts, it's the fanciest, furriest gala of the year! Join the San Diego Humane Society in their premiere event of the season, the annual Fur Ball Gala. You and your four-legged, fancy companion can join the best and brightest of the San Diego Humane Society (tails and all) at this annual event to raise funds for the shelter. Think delicious doggo treats, black tie atmosphere, and of course, plenty of pooches present. In 2016, the gala raised over $800,000 for the shelter! Don't miss out on this philanthropic pup party!12
Walk for the Animals
If you're into having fun while giving back, then you'll love the annual Walk for the Animals! Both you and your canine companion are invited to participate in this event. Just up the road from Oceanside, you can join the San Diego Humane Society for their annual Walk for the Animals. This 2-mile walk (with your pooch in tow, of course) will feature fundraising opportunities for the shelter, but also will include fun activities like a pancake breakfast (your dogs will thank you), doggie-specific events, a vendor village, and a meet-n-greet warm-up hour. Make sure you keep your pups leashed at all times, and get ready to enjoy a philanthropic-fun walk with your four-legged buddy.
Oceanside Dog Park
The Oceanside Dog Park is one of the hottest spots in town for pooches and their pawrents. With wrap-around fences and an off-leash policy, you and your pup can glide across the AstroTurf together and enjoy a mutual frolic. This park is maintained by the North County Humane Society, so they're sticklers about keeping it clean. Also, only pooches with vaccinations, who have been spayed or neutered, and are licescened are allowed to use this free park. With tons of space, plenty of goodnatured neighbors, shade, grass, and water, this park is the perfect place for you and your best friend to spend some time together.
