Paso Robles, CA is a quintessential California town, featuring hot springs, numerous wineries, and orchards that house the area's olive and almond trees. Situated halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Paso Robles is considered the end of Northern California. For dog lovers, there are numerous nearby shelters and animal rescues that are dedicated to helping less fortunate pets and finding them a fur-ever home:

Second Chance at Love Humane Society is an animal rescue and rehabilitation center that is located about 10 minutes from Paso Robles in  Templeton, CA. As their name implies, Second Chance at Love Humane Society believes every animal deserves another try and they work hard to place animals in loving homes where they can thrive. Second Chance also has numerous volunteer and fundraising opportunities that allow the community to get involved, including a wine club, online shopping alternatives, and donation programs.

Woods Humane Society - North County is an offshoot of the San Luis Obispo, CA Woods Humane Society, North County. It is a nonprofit animal shelter that offers care and support for more than 2,500 dogs and cats at their Atascadero location! They are committed to finding solutions to pet overpopulation and educating pet owners and lovers alike. In addition to their adoption services and spay/neuter services, North County has numerous volunteer opportunities, dog training classes, and humane education programs for kids and young adults.

WHAR-Wolves is a unique animal shelter dedicated to caring for and rescuing hybrid dog/wolf mixes in Paso Robles and throughout San Luis Obispo County. WHAR has touched many people's lives. In addition to rescuing hybrid dog/wolf mixes, they offer adoption programs, animal training and behavior modification programs, field trips, and educational tours designed to teach people about the necessity of wolves and to help them better understand hybrid dogs/wolf mixes.
