Give a Wag! Gives to Piedmont Shelters

Surrounded by Oakland and with easy access to a wide variety of dog-friendly experiences and attractions, Piedmont is a grrr-eat place for dog lovers! As this city boasts such a large community of dog owners and animal welfare advocates, there’s always assistance available for dogs in need of help.

Take the East Bay SPCA, for example. This paw-some non-profit is one of the oldest animal shelters in the country, and it’s been helping injured, lost, and abandoned animals since 1874. Based on a commitment to the welfare of cats and dogs in the East Bay area, the group offers everything from veterinary services to behaviour and training support, pet food pantries, humane education programs, and animal adoptions.

With adoption centers in Oakland and Dublin, the East Bay SPCA doesn’t receive any financial support from national humane associations or organizations. Donations from the community, not to mention the generosity of volunteers and foster carers, are critical factors that allow the group to continue saving the lives of our furry friends.

Rocket Dog Rescue is another local non-profit committed to giving animals in need a chance at a better life. Run by volunteers, this paw-some group saves dogs from euthanasia at overcrowded shelters and gives them the care and support they need until a loving, permanent home can be found.

Rocket Dog Rescue has saved the lives of more than 8,100 animals over the years, and it’s always on the lookout for volunteers, foster carers, and donations. Visit the Rocket Dog Rescue website to find out how you can help!
