Like most mid-sized cities, Rancho Cucamonga, California, gets a little of the best and a little of the worst of city life. Part of the negative is the homeless pet population, which never seems to end. Fortunately for homeless animals in the area, there are area shelters that bring in these animals, care for them, and try to find them new, loving homes.
The Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center brings in and cares for homeless animals in the area by working with the Animal Control Department of the City of Rancho Cucamonga. Since opening in 2006, after more than 15 years of trying to get the shelter built and staffed, the organization has become one of the most progressive city-sponsored shelters in the state. Currently, the main goal of the shelter is to become a no-kill facility.
Angels for Animals Rescue is dedicated to helping animals in the Rancho Cucamonga area by picking up any animal it can that is past its “due out date” at other shelters to prevent unnecessary euthanasia. Animals that end up with Angels for Animals are placed into foster homes and readied for adoption. Many of these dogs and cats are socialized and receive medical care during the time they are in foster care. All of these animals are spayed and neutered, given any necessary shots, and microchipped.
