Dog Day Afternoon
If you’re looking to adopt a new pet, or if you’re just keen to spend a grrr-eat afternoon out with your dog, this is the event for you! Dog Day Afternoon, hosted by Pawtrero on Brannan Street, is the largest pet adoption street fair in San Francisco. The aim of the event is to raise money and awareness for a host of local pet rescue groups, with heaps of adorable adoptable animals on site to meet and greet. There’s plenty more to see and do throughout the day as well, including heaps of pet-related vendors, some free goodies, pet care information, pet photography, live music, and even a pet costume contest. Admission is free and dogs are welcome, with 100% of proceeds raised throughout the day benefiting the rescue groups in attendance!

Each August, the Nihonmachi Street Fair celebrates all the best things about the cultural melting pot that is San Francisco, combining performances, art, music, food, and community outreach into a whole weekend full of festival fun.
