Doggy Dash
Every year, the Sacramento SPCA provides essential care to more than 5,500 animals. Doggy Dash is a critical fundraiser which ensures that this wonderful organization can keep helping pets in need. Held at William Land Park in April, this tail-wagging event features a 5K and 2K walk where dogs are more than welcome! There’s a relaxed, party atmosphere all the way along the scenic course, and the celebrations continue after the walk with the free Bark in the Park pet festival held immediately following the completion of the Doggy Dash. If you want to meet other animal lovers, get some exercise, and spend some quality time with your pooch, you’ll love Doggy Dash!

Bark in the Park
Once you’ve worked up a sweat doing the Doggy Dash, it’s time to paw-ty! This paw-some pet walk is followed by a family-friendly festival in William Land Park, with five hours of non-stop games and entertainment for dog lovers and their pets! You can watch fascinating doggy demonstrations and amusing canine contests, sample some delicious beverages in the beer/cocktail garden, and shop for pet products from a huge range of vendor booths. Entry to Bark in the Park is free for anyone registered to walk in the Doggy Dash on the same day. If you’re not registered to walk, a $5 suggested donation to the Sacramento SPCA is all you need to join in the fun!

Yappy Hour
If you like enjoying a drink and a grrr-eat night out almost as much as you like spending time with your dog, Yappy Hour is designed with you in mind! Throughout the year, the Sacramento SPCA holds regular Yappy Hour events at a range of venues across the city. A portion of beer (and sometimes food) sales from each event benefits the Sacramento SPCA, which cares for more than 5,500 animals each year, so you can relax and enjoy your evening safe in the knowledge that you are helping pets in need. The best part of all, however, is that your dog is also invited, and there are few things in this world that are better than indulging in happy hour drinks with your pooch right by your side!

Soggy Doggy Swim Day
Does your dog love getting wet and frolicking in the water? Do you have almost as much fun watching him swim as he does while doggy paddling? If you answered yes to these questions, the Soggy Doggy Swim Day is the event you’ve been waiting for! Held in October at the West Sacramento Recreation Center, this paw-some day out gives all breeds the chance to enjoy a relaxing dip. There’s a beach entry to make it easy for pooches to get in and out of the water, and all dogs are welcome! The Swim Day is an initiative of the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office of Animal Services and the $5 per dog admission price is well worth it.
Wag Hotels' Annual Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs
Does your dog love the thrill and excitement of a treasure hunt? If so, he’ll relish the prospect of the Wag Hotels Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs. This annual event is a hit with dogs of all ages and breeds, as they get the op-paw-tunity to sniff out eggs filled with a variety of tasty treats and valuable prizes! While your dog is putting his nose to the ground and giving it his best, you can put your feet up and snack on finger foods or shop from a range of local vendors. There’s even a chance to get your dog’s photo taken with the Easter Bunny, while all proceeds from the event benefit a local animal-themed non-profit. And the best part of all? Dogs and kids get in free!
