Nestled in Arapahoe County, Englewood Colorado is a nature-lovers haven, but more than that, it's a special city with lots of love for pups. The state of Colorado is known for it's pooch-friendliness, and although Englewood doesn't top the list for the state (it's no Colorado Springs, but hey), there's plenty for you and your pup to do together. Much of this is due to the events put on by the local shelters in the area.
One of the most popular shelters in the area is the Humane Society of South Platte Valley, a 501(c)3 that cares for lost, stray, and unwanted animals until they're able to find homes for them. In addition to caring for these animals, they provide educational programs, veterinary services, and fostering teams.
Another shelter that serves the Englewood area is the Colorado Animal Welfare League (CAWL), another 501(c)3 group that protects the homeless animals of Colorado, and even reaches into surrounding states like New Mexico, Wyoming, and Kansas. They provide veterinary services when they can, collect donations, foster animals, and try to find pups forever homes.
