Give a Wag! Gives to Glastonbury Shelters

Protectors of Animals (POA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that has been going strong since 1975. Their missions is clear - to save all unwanted pets and rehome them into loving, forever homes and to educate the public on the joys and responsibilities of adopting a pet. The dedicated, loving staff is one of the finest group of people you will ever know; they advocate for animals because the animals don't have a voice. They will not rest until every unwanted, abused and neglected pet finds their forever home and their long-awaited happily ever after.

The amazing, selfless, volunteers are the backbone of POA. They do everything necessary to help the animals in their care. They do office work, they provide loving foster homes for the adoptable pets, they make and receive countless phone calls on behalf of the adoptable pets, they administer meds and flea meds to the adoptable pets, and they groom, socialize, cuddle, walk, teach and offer patient and loving care to each of their many adoptable pets. Some volunteers even take their adoptable cats and dogs to senior centers to keep the residents company or to area schools to educate kids on the importance of being kind to all living creatures.

The POA is located at 144 Main Street in East Hartford, Connecticut. If you are looking for a loving cat or dog, POA has so many cuties for you to come and meet. Be prepared to fall in love more than once! If you have any questions about adoption or about behavioral or nutritional needs of your current pet, the staff is ready and willing to help you - just give them a call!

If you are unable to adopt a new friend right now, you can volunteer your time or make a much needed, tax-deductible financial contribution to POA. Educating the community is important and is the first step in better treatment and care of the animal population of Connecticut!
