Give a Wag! Gives to Deland Shelters

Home to the beautiful and historic Stetson University, Deland, Florida is a prime town located just minutes away from Florida's Atlantic Coast. While all of that sounds good, one of the most appealing factors is the city's attitude towards pups! An increasingly doggo-friendly city, Deland has been blooming with spots for you and your pooch to pawty. Much of this is thanks to the pup shelters that service the area and the cities surrounding Deland.

One of the most influential of these is the Halifax Humane Society, a non-profit 501(c)3 that serves the Greater Daytona Beach area and Deland. This shelter is equipped with a clinic dedicated to spay and neuter, as well as plenty of space for homeless pets seeking adoption. People can even take their animals to the shelter for animal training and behavior classes.

A few other shelters, like the West and Southeast Volusia Humane Societies, serve Deland as well! These shelters focus on protecting animals from cruelty and helping to relieve animal suffering. These shelters educate the public, promote responsible adoption, and provide veterinary services to the area's animals.

    #5 Pup Parks

What good would a city be without a reliable, pawesome, pup park? Luckily, Deland has a few prime locations within the city limits, and others just a few miles away. One of the best is Barkley Square Dog Park, a 14-acre, fenced-in park with tons of trees, a small pond, and lots of dog-watering stations.
Another popular park in the area is the Michael Crotty Bicentennial Park. This fully-equipped park has large trees with plenty of shade, four acres for your pup to run free, and watering stations, too!
