The best dog events in Dunedin

Dogtoberfest
It's one of the biggest Fall events on the Gulf Coast, and you and your pooch are invited! Dogtoberfest is an annual event, going on a decade strong in the beautiful, charming downtown of Dunedin. The event, put on by the Suncoast Animal League, will feature a full day of doggie fun for you and your pet, including a pet costume contest, a coronation of the dog King and Queen of the festival, a My Pet's Got Talent, an Alumni Parade, and most unique of all, the annual running of the wieners - that's right, it's wiener dog race!Don't miss out on this technically free event ($5 for parking) and don't forget to bring your four-legged friend to sniff around, meet new friends, and enjoy the festivities.

Pinellas Trail in Downtown Dunedin
Downtown Dunedin is exceptionally dog-friendly. While you're able to bring your furry friend into most stores, restaurants, and bars, the real unique feature is the Pinellas Trail that cuts right through the downtown. This pet-friendly trail goes on for miles and miles and winds through many cities in Florida. It's about 40 miles long, with trailheads that begin in many cities. Though your pooch must be leashed, this is a hot spot for pup-exploration, and you'll likely meet dozens of other dogs along the way! Just make sure your pooch is polite, and be sure to prepare for the hot, Florida sun. Always clean up after your pup so the runners, bikers, hikers, and boarders don't get an accidental squishy surprise on the trail!24
Honeymoon Island State Park Dog Beach
This is the hottest, sandiest spot for you and your pooch to enjoy in all of Dunedin! Though the entire city is relatively dog-welcoming, there's not a ton of shoreline that allows your pup the freedom to roam. The Honeymoon Island State Park Dog Beach features soft, white sand, lapping salt waves, and even a nature trail that starts at the beach and carries you and your pup onward to adventure! The beach is free, open all day, year-round, and is located on the southern tip of the island.Make sure you keep Fido on a six-foot leash and clean up after your doggo.
