Just like other cities in this area, the big focus on pups has lead to the forming of a ton of dog organizations, associations, societies, and more. One of the biggest shelters in the area is the Suncoast Animal League, a non-profit, no-kill, and no-time-limit shelter. They rely mostly on volunteers to foster pups, and though they don't have a time-limit, they do have to limit the number of strays taken into the actual shelter. This is done to prevent over-crowding and the use of euthanasia.
Another doggie association is the Dunedin Dog Rescue, an organization that rescues dogs from local and rural kill shelters. They take in dogs from owners who surrender them, people looking to re-home their pets, and strays, as well.
Contact either of these fine establishments the next time you are thinking of bringing a new fur buddy into your home! They would be happy to hear from you.
Don't miss out on this technically free event ($5 for parking) and don't forget to bring your four-legged friend to sniff around, meet new friends, and enjoy the festivities.
