For example, the folks over at The Old Dog House are doing their best to make the lives of dogs better. They work hard to find homes for homeless, elderly dogs in their care. These grey-faced furbabies are looking for loving homes to retire into, and already have a wealth of life experience to share, which is what makes them so special to the people at TODH.
Another fine example of the loving concern of the city is Pit Sisters Rescue. These pawsome folks take in Pitbulls and Pitbull mixes and find them appropriate, safe, and loving homes. They work solely on donations, often putting in many extra hours to provide the necessary veterinary and supportive care that the dogs need from the time they arrive to when they find their forever homes.
After you've had a chance to visit these great friends, stop in at the Jacksonville Dog Cafe, where you can grab a free cup of amazing roasted coffee while visiting with some of the local, paws-itively adorable pals there. All of the dogs are from local rescues and get to spend a bit of time socializing at the cafe while looking for their fur-ever homes. What better way to enjoy a great cup of coffee than to spend it with some furry friends?
Check out the pet photo booth, costume events, and even pet adoptions that are held, and you'll have a great time checking out some of the sponsors of the event as well. AVS works hard to provide homeless pets with the necessary veterinary care they need when they are brought in to the many rescue centers in the state. They can use all the help they can get to continue doing so, so come support this great cause!
What better way to have a bit of fun with your four-legged friend than to head on over and grab a photo with Santa! Or you can take part in the Ugly Sweater Contest (pooches only, owners won't win), and enjoy some live entertainment. Don't forget to check out a few of the delicious delights that they're brewing up for the owners, but remember to arrange safe passage home for you, and your furbaby, too!
Better yet, $1 from every pint sale will go to the donation pot for Friends of Clay County Animals and you'll get a great brew! What more could you ask for? Oh, did we mention that the list of items in the Silent Auction is at least half a mile long?
The event is an evening of fun for everyone and dogs are always welcome! Remember to mind your manners and gather all the attention you can handle, and make sure your furbabies do as well.
If you're feeling super festive, there is a bottomless Mimosa Brunch option, but be sure to arrange safe transportation for you and your furbaby once the event is over. We'd love to see you there as the event is supporting a pawsome cause, the Friends of Jacksonville Animals!
This is a great chance to get some exercise with your favorite pooch and simply be a pawsome person. There will also be a huge host of vendors out there to check out with your furry pal, which means lots of wags and wiggles to brighten your day!
