Venice, Florida, is located on the western shore of the state. Known for its sandy beaches, the city is also home to animals in need of forever homes. With a couple of great shelters in the area, these homeless pets are provided with shelter, food, and medical care.
The True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission opened in 2014 to help save as many dogs from the streets of Miami as possible. Located in Venice, this shelter was able to help more than 600 animals find new homes in its first year. As a non-profit organization, the True and Faithful Pet Rescue Mission relies on donations and adoption fees, as well as volunteers. All of the funds that the organization receives go toward helping the animals in the their care. No animals are turned away due to age or medical problems, which allows for many animals to get a second chance.
The Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary, also called EARS by locals, is a non-profit animal rescue that is dedicated to caring for homeless cats and dogs. This non-profit organization relies on volunteers and donations to provide care for all the animals that come through its door. EARS also operates a thrift store that helps fund the shelter. Adoption fees help fund the organizations mission as well. The cats that EARS helps are kept in a shelter, while the dogs are cared for by foster families
