Much of the activity in such a small town is due to the many shelters that service the Vero Beach area. One of the most well-known, popular shelters is the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County. This shelter, a non-profit and non-kill organization, that helped nearly 8,000 animals in the last year. They focus on sheltering, fostering, caring for pups, and providing veterinary services to animals in the area.
Another popular rescue, the Helping Animals Live (HALO for short) is a no-kill, safe-haven that was created for abused and abandoned animals. HALO believes in eliminating euthanasia and crafting a community where there are no more homeless pets! In their existence, they've helped over 2,000 animals find homes and escape shelter-killings.
This annual Bark N' Brew event is the perfect, social event for you and your pooch! If you both enjoy meeting other doggos, like the occasional beer (okay, maybe not your pup), and listening to music, this annual event, hosted by the Vero Beach Dog Park, is perfect for you!
This event is huge, too, with over 800 four-legged guests (and nearly 2,000 two-legged guests) in attendance at past events. That's a lot of legs! If you and your pooch want to enjoy fun activities like wiener dog racing, the wet dog t-shirt race, and a lure course, then this is a cant-miss event.
Join the fun for the first ever Chase Your Tail 5k event! This fundraiser, hosted by HALO is an exciting social event that will raise awareness of the no-kill shelter, and provide an opportunity for you and your pooch to meet some fellow doggos and their pawrents. You and your pup can run, jog, sniff, or walk your way along the beautiful Indian River, and even qualify to win some awesome prizes! Don't miss out on a chance to enjoy some fun, make new friends, and spend quality time with your pup!
