Give a Wag! Gives to Winter Park Shelters

Winter Park, Florida is a great place to be a dog! There are a number of rescues, nonprofits, and other animal organizations in place to ensure that all creatures throughout Orange County are healthy, happy, and cared for. Of these, there are two major shelters serving the homeless dogs of Winter Park- Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando and Orange County Animal Services. Their admirable efforts are responsible for finding homes for thousands of animals every year!

Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, formerly the Orlando Humane Society, was founded in 1937. As one of the largest and oldest animal welfare organizations in the state, the alliance strives to provide refuge for animals in need as well as programs and services promoting happy, healthy pets and families. The organization gives each pet that comes through their doors shelter, veterinary care, enrichment, playtime, and training.

Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando provides animal sheltering and adoption, welfare education and outreach, affordable veterinary clinics, and even a free pet food/veterinary care program for low-income seniors. It is their hope that through providing resources for not only homeless animals, but also families with pets, they can help keep dogs and cats in their homes and achieve a happier, healthier community. The organization operates three veterinary clinics, two stationary and one mobile, to ensure that every pet owner has access to affordable care and thus a healthy pet! They also promote responsible pet ownership and animal welfare through community outreach, summer camps, and school-based education programs. Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando is committed to leading the community in ending pet homelessness!

Another shelter in place for the animals of Winter Park is Orange County Animal Services. This open-admittance shelter is a safe haven for any and all domestic animals in need throughout the county. The animal welfare organization offers a number of community-based services and programs while enforcing Orange County Code to protect both pets and people. Their comprehensive services include a field response team, pet rescue and adoption, a foster care program, low-cost microchipping, a volunteer program, mobile spay/neuters, and community outreach and education. Through their dedicated efforts, Orange County Animal Services strives to put every pet in their fur-ever home!
