Give a Wag! Gives to Des Plaines Shelters

Des Plaines, Illinois, is fortunate enough to be surrounded by local animal shelters that are dedicated to keeping homeless animals off of the streets. These shelters work hard to protect animals and find them new homes. Two of the most notable shelters in the area are the Heartland Animal Shelter and The Buddy Foundation.

The Heartland Animal Shelter opened in October of 2002, and since then, the organization has been dedicated to saving the lives of animals who were likely to be euthanized due to overpopulation in other local shelters. One way the organization prevents overpopulation is by promoting spay and neuter surgeries for pets. Since many of the animals that come into the Heartland Animal Shelter come from abusive or neglectful backgrounds, the organization has staff that works hard to provide training and support to animals that may otherwise be hard to get adopted. As a no-kill facility, Heartland Animal Shelter helps save a lot of pet lives.

The Buddy Foundation was founded as a no-kill shelter in 1995. The organization provides a safe space for abused and abandoned animals in the Des Plaines area. The Buddy Foundation then matches each animal with a new family as they can. One of the organization’s goals is to reduce the number of animals who are euthanized due to overpopulation in animal shelters.

If you live in the Des Plaines area and are considering an addition of a pet into your household, consider contacting one of these great shelters to find your new companion.
