Give a Wag! Gives to Joliet Shelters

If you love dogs (and animals of all shapes and sizes), you’ll find plenty of friends in Joliet. This Illinois city, found 40 miles southwest of Chicago, has a big population of animal lovers who are willing to step up to the plate whenever dogs are in need of help.

Hopeful Tails Animal Rescue is a perfect example of this. Founded by a group of volunteers who simply wanted to make a difference in the lives of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals, this non-profit has helped many dogs find loving forever homes. Like so many other fantastic rescue groups across the country, it’s always on the lookout for more volunteers and foster carers.

Will County Humane Society also works tirelessly to champion the rights of animals in and around Joliet. As the oldest no-kill animal shelter in Will County, the society has been helping the pets of the area for more than 40 years. It has one very important purpose: to provide a safe haven for homeless pets and help them find loving, permanent homes. On any given day it cares for over 40 homeless dogs - and even more cats, and this not-for-profit receives no federal or local government funding.

Finally, Wags 2 Wishes Animal Rescue is also deserving of recognition. Based in nearby Plainfield, Wags 2 Wishes has a mission to rescue abused, sick, abandoned, and forgotten animals facing euthanasia. Those poor animals then receive the love, care, and treatment they need to transition into loving homes where they can live out the lives they deserve.
