When you get greeted by your dog at the door, you always look at their tail, right? You do it to see just how fast it's wagging. Well, we have the perfect event for you and your dog that will surely make that tail wag! It’s called Tailwaggers, and all doggies are welcomed! You can play games, get your face painted, and shop from some great vendors. Bob Quinn of Rivers Edge Canine does scent detection demos at the event, so maybe your dog can help you find that shirt you lost last summer? Located at Avantis Dome, admission is free.

Whiskers, Wags, & A Food Truck
What fun is Halloween without dressing up, dressing your kids up, and the most fun, dressing your dog up? Halloween is meant to be celebrated with lots of food, that’s why Nacho Mama does an annual lunch event right before Halloween and donates a portion of her sales to Tazewell Animal Protective Society shelter. The event itself takes place there, and will offer lots of goodies for you and your dog, so dress up the family and come check it out! Admission is free, but bring your rainy day change because there are plenty of things to spend some money on.24
TAPS Happy Tails Sale
Finders Keepers! We love a good sale and we bet you do too. Tazewell Animal Protective Society is hosting its annual Happy Trails Sale this summer with a yard sale, bake sale, raffle prizes, and even lemon shakeups! Who wouldn’t want a nice cool drink on a hot day? And Nacho Mama’s will be joining and donating a portion of her sales to TAPS—so bring your dog (every dog loves food trucks it’s like the ice cream truck to kids, well dogs like that too). All dogs are welcomed and encouraged!

Come support your favourite Pekin shelter, the Tazewell Animal Protective Society, as it plans its annual special event - Ridin & Rockin’ for TAPS in downtown Pekin! This all-day event is perfect for those who want to participate in riding—15/bike or 20/double, and it’s also perfect for those who want to show some support and bring their furry friends with a $7 entry that will go directly to TAPS. There will be great bands, great food, and drinks making it the perfect event to get the family out enjoying local artists and the community.

Come check out Pekin’s next Top Dog! The annual Top Dog event lets your animal shine, for all those pups who love to entertain. This event is the perfect place, who knows, maybe they’ll even get scouted?! There are several categories your doggo can enter in, including ugliest dog, cutest dog, best trick, best rescue, and best-in-show. So, if your dog has some talent that you’ve never been able to showcase, now is your chance! Admission is $5, or a donation of pet supplies.
