Running with the Dogs
If you are looking for an excuse to get active and hang out with dogs for a morning, look no further than Running with the Dogs at Junction City Shopping Center in Peoria, Illinois! Bring your pooch down for a 5k race to benefit Paws Giving Independence, an organization that trains shelter dogs to be service dogs and gives them to a person in need, for free!
The race takes place on a day each September from 8 am to 11 am.
Pre-registration fees are $30 per person. If you wait to register until the day of the race, the fee is $35 per person. Donations are also accepted at the event.

Bark in the Park
As the largest fundraising event of the year for Peoria Humane Society, Bark in the Park is a great way for you and your pup to help support the shelter and all the animals that come through its doors. Take part in the Bark Walk along the Riverfront and sign-up for or watch the Marvelous Mutt Show where dogs can show off their talents!
There will also be activities for children, doggie arts and crafts, professional photographs, raffles, and vendor booths. Food will be provided by local restaurants.
Registration is $25 per person before the day of the event. Day-of registration is $30 per person. If you register two months or more before the event, you are guaranteed a Bark in the Park t-shirt and a bandana! Registration also comes with a souvenir photo and the option to bring one dog. Children under 16 get in for free.

Woofstock
Join other music lovers and their dogs for the best kind of music festival: Woofstock! Stray Animal Midway Shelter hosts this unique event each September, and puppers and humans both love it. For an extra fun time, dress up your pooch for a chance to win a prize in the costume contest!
There will be games, activities, and vendors at the event, as well as a silent auction and prize giveaways.
A $20 admission fee is required to get into the festival with one dog. For $40 per person, you and your dog will also be treated to a t-shirt and a bandana.
All dogs must be six months or older and be on a non-retractable leash. Vaccinations must be up-to-date and rabies tags must be worn by all dogs at the event.

Tailwaggers
TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter hosts an annual event called Tailwaggers where dogs and their owners can enjoy a day inside watching demonstrations, playing games, and browsing through amazing products at the vendor booths. Don’t miss out on the blessing of the animals or the pet contests, either!
Be sure to enter for the chance to win a gift basket and participate in the silent auction and raffles.
There will also be games, a bounce house, and face painting for children.
The event takes place on a day in November from 11 am to 3 pm at Pekin Avanti’s Dome. While admission is free, a donation is requested for TAPS.

Doggie Egg Hunt
Celebrate Easter each year at the Doggie Egg Hunt at Camp Wokanda in Chillicothe! At this Doggie Egg Hunt, there will be two separate hunts depending on the size of your dog. Be sure to dress your dog up for a chance to win a prize in the costume contest.
Bring your kids too, as there will also be activities for children. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture all the fun!
Admission is $5 per dog and $2 per human. No registration is required, and proceeds from the event will be donated to local animal shelters. The hunt is on starting at 1 pm. By 3 pm, the event will wrap up.
