Hi, my name is Kathy. I've loved animals since I can remember and have been walking and training dogs since I was a teenager. Giving me nearly 16 years of experience. I am currently in school to become a certified dog trainer, while I work as a veterinary assistant. I have 5 dogs of my own and have several regular pup sitting clients as well. I have helped train shelter pups who, through no fault of their own, have behavior issues. I am comfortable with large or small dogs, puppies to geriatric.

The rescue formed years ago by former members of the Terra Haute Humane Society. They chose to be the voice for the animals because animals have no voice themselves and life isn't always fair for them. The creatures needed a hero or two and that is how Dog It Dig It Rescue was formed. They place their animals with good, permanent homes. Our pets love us unconditionally; don't they deserve that much too?
If you are looking for a fur-ever friend, chances are Dog It Dig It Rescue has that one special pet just for you! If you are not in the market for a new furry family member but would still like to make a donation or volunteer, contact the shelter. There is plenty of work to do, like playing and walking the dogs, cleaning the shelter, working in the office, transporting the pets to adoption events and lots more!
If you are a paw parent and would like to pay your good fortune forward to those homeless and abandoned animals, donations are always needed. All donations go back into the shelter for medical expenses, food, supplies and gas cards (needed to transport the animals to adoption events and to and from the vet).
The National Road Heritage Trail (Terra Haute) is one of 1600 rails supported by Rails-to-Trials Conservancy. This previously unused railroad corridor is now the paw-fect place to take your pup for a walk. There are 7 miles of asphalt-covered trail that is perfect for walking, jogging, biking or skating and is wheelchair accessible! The trail winds through Terra Haute between Indiana State University, through parks, neighborhoods, schools and business before heading east into the wooded countryside and scattered farmlands. So peaceful and scenic - Fido will WOOF you for hanging with him on the trail!

This photo is sure to be a treasured keepsake for years to come. Be sure to keep your leashed pup under your control while you wait for your turn with Santa. Don't forget to bring your pup's wish list for Christmas and always do your duty and pick up Fido's doody. Fox Island County Parks in nearby Ft. Wayne, Indiana is a 605-acre park with a 270-acre nature preserve. This preserve protects all of the unique plants and animals that live on Fox Island. Come see why they live there and explore the marshlands, seasonal ponds, wetland forests, wooded sand dunes, old fields and restored prairies. Bring Fido and his leash and hit the many trails, but be sure to stop by the doggy beach! The doggy beach is the only area where Fido can go off-leash. Please be sure to pick up after your pup! It's also a good idea to bring your camera in case some of the preserves' wildlife comes out to say hello.
Bridgeton Mill is located 20 miles northeast of Terra Haute on the Big Racoon River Creek. Bridgeton Mill is the oldest continually operating mill in Indiana - 180 years and counting! Dogs are welcome outside the actual mill and can enjoy some homemade ice cream or a swim in the creek! Hot Diggity dog, that sounds fun! Bridgeton Mill is also home to Indiana's most famous covered bridge; the bridge itself crosses the mill pond which is created by the mill dam, so it is above the waterfall. Come and see this local hot spot with your beloved canine!
