Dog Boarding in Salina

Salina is a small town in Kansas that is close to two animal shelters that are both dedicated to keeping stray pets off the streets and finding them new, permanent homes. Both of these shelters provide food and medical care for the homeless pets of Salina, Kansas, and the surrounding areas. Salina Animal Services and the McPherson County Humane Society are both available options for stray pets in this area.

Salina Animal Services is a non-profit that has been no-kill for the past two years. The shelter’s goals are to increase the number of living pets that leave animal shelters while decreasing the length of time each animal has to spend in the facility. The organization also works to raise the standard of care provided to all of the animals in its charge. To help prevent more homeless pets in the area, the shelter educates the public on responsible pet ownership and care. In 2016, the shelter took in 2903 animals, 1260 of which were dogs. More than 1100 of those animals were either reclaimed by their owners or adopted to new families.

Although McPherson is a few minutes away from Salina, there are many stray animals in the area that need homes that often must bounce between the two towns. The McPherson County Humane Society is a non-profit shelter that provides shelter, food, medical care, and love to hundreds of homeless pets each year. This shelter works especially hard to get abused animals and “less-adoptable” pets new homes locally. The shelter also relies heavily on foster families to care for the pets that come into the shelter.
