Give a Wag! Gives to Shawnee Shelters

Shawnee is a suburb of Kansas City on the Kansas side of the border. For homeless pets in the area, access to both the Kansas and Missouri side of the border can be a blessing. With numerous local shelters in the area, it can be hard to decide which one to visit first, but there are a couple local favorites: The Pet Connection and KC Pet Project.

The Pet Connection is a non-profit animal welfare organization that focuses on finding new homes for the homeless pets of the Kansas City area. Located in Olathe, which is only a few minutes away from Shawnee, The Pet Connection is probably the most convenient shelter for those living in Shawnee. This organization has been helping animals find new homes since 1999. Since opening, more than 7,000 animals have been placed in new homes, with hundreds of those being rehabilitated dogs and cats. The group has also helped more than 8,000 animals receive free or low-cost spay or neuter services!

The KC Pet Project is a huge organization in the Kansas City area. The KC Pet Project is a non-profit that helps more than 10,000 animals find new homes each year. This animal welfare organization has been working with other local groups to create a No-Kill Kansas City, by providing spay and neuter services and helping all the healthy, adoptable pets in the region find new homes instead of relying on euthanasia. Currently, the organization has three different adoption centers where potential pet parents can go to find a new pooch.
