Tails on the Trails Pet Festival and Dog Swim
August is going to the dogs with the annual Tails on the Trails Pet Festival and Dog Swim! Head down to the Ad Astra Pool and Park with your pooch for a day of fun in the sun. Spend the morning and early afternoon browsing pet vendors, watching your dog swim, watching pet demonstrations, and participating in the pet talent show.
There are specific times for small and large dogs to swim, as well as an all dog swim for pups of all shapes and sizes!
Admission to the festival is free. Swimming costs $8 per dog on the day of the event. Pre-registered swimmers are just $5 each.

Going to the Dogs Annual Trivial Pawsuit
Head over to Thompson Barn each April for the Going to the Dogs Annual Trivial Pawsuit event! Gather a team to answer the most questions correctly.
Registration and dinner start at 5:30 pm followed by a K9 Demonstration at 6:20. After the demonstration, Trivial Pawsuit begins! Prizes will be awarded to trivia winners, as well as the best-dressed teams and individuals at the event.
Tickets cost $25 per person. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor and purchasing a table, packages are available at different price ranges.
Proceeds go to help Going to the Dogs purchase protective vests for law enforcement K9s.

Fall 4 Fur and Fun
Do you want a whole morning dedicated to celebrating with your pet? If so, Fall 4 Fur and Fun is the event for you! Each September, head over to the VFW on Pflumm Road for a day of fun. Participate in games for both humans and dogs and win great prizes! There will be food and drinks for both dogs and people to enjoy.
While the event is more fun with a dog, if your pet can’t make it, humans are welcome to attend even without a pet.
The event is held at 9550 Pflumm Road in Lenexa Kansas. The morning begins at 10 am and festivities wrap up at noon.

Dog’s Night Out
During the annual Local Life 3rd Friday in May, celebrate your pooch at the Dog’s Night Out in Overland Park, Kansas. Dogs and their owners are asked to come down to Downtown Overland Park for a night of fun! While you listen to live music and meet adoptable dogs, look for bright orange window decals for stores and restaurants that welcome canines during this event.
During Dog’s Night Out, you’ll receive food specials, get to participate in tastings, and take part in great sales in the area. There will also be three gift baskets full of treats for both dogs and humans up for grabs in the raffle.
Admission to the event is free, but raffle tickets are $5 each. All proceeds will go to the Great Plains SPCA.
Ales and Tails
The Kansas City Renaissance Festival is one of the most exciting events of the fall season! Each September, the festival hosts the Ales and Tails day, where dogs are not only allowed in the fair, they are celebrated! Watch pet demonstrations, participate in the pet costume contest or in the dog trick competition, and browse through pet vendor booths. There is even a contest to find the smallest and largest dog at the event!
During the Ales and Tails events, dogs get in for half price, which is only $5.
The KC Ren Fest opens at 10 am and closes at 7 pm.
