Hi there, I'm Shanna! I have loved having dogs around me all my life, from one grandmother's obedience show dogs to the other grandmother's many adopted strays to the rescued Boxer who was my best friend as a kid, to the goofy fluffball spaniel back home in NH who shuns me whenever I pack to come back to Boston. I personally took both of my dogs through obedience training classes, and worked as a walker and sitter for neighbors for several years. I have been a pet sitter for oodles of other animals, from cats to chickens, and have several years of equestrian work and training experience as well. I can't have a dog with my current work schedule and apartment, so helping your furry friend get some exercise will be a wonderful way for me to get some canine companionship! I can't wait to meet your dog!

Hi, My name is Paul and I have had rescued three dogs since 1997. I had a large Bull Mastiff / St. Bernard mix named Veego that passed away at around 15 in 2012. I have had a German Shepherd since 2005, Honey is currently 14 years old. I have also had a Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Ben since 2007 that is about to be ten. I have pet sat for lots of friends in the past. Pitbulls, Rotweiller, Labradors, Boxer, Pug, Chihuahuas, French Bulldog, and a few Terriers. Seeing any dog always puts a smile on my face, from abandoned rescues to show dogs. I enjoy learning their unique personalities and quirks. I will treat your dog (and home) like I do my own, with love and care. I've also been vegetarian / vegan for over 25 years and like to stay active. Reliable transportation for North Shore and Boston.

Hi, my name is Rebekah. I grew up an animal lover in Maine, where I enjoyed living with a Blue Heeler/Sheppard mix named Sitka. I started walking and sitting for my friends’ and neighbors’ pets more than 5 years ago and have loved it ever since! Recently I’ve moved to Boston and am excited to be back in the area. I have experience with dogs of all sizes and ages. As an outdoorsy, active person, I’d love to meet your best friend and take them out for some fun and exciting exercise! I know each pup is as unique as they are loved, and I can’t wait to provide you both with the caring Wag! experience.

Dog Boarding in Somerville

The lost, stray, abandoned, and neglected animals of Somerville, MA are rescued, cared for, and assisted by the Somerville Animal Control Department, a city-run organization in place to prevent cruelty to animals and protect pet and public safety. Somerville Animal Control operates a small holding shelter for lost and homeless animals and collaborates with other local shelters and rescue groups to ensure that every pet in need receives the care and compassion they deserve until they can be placed into permanent, loving homes.

Services offered by the department for the local community include response to wild and domestic animal-related calls, lost pet reporting, enforcement of city regulations to prevent animal cruelty, pet licensing, case management of abandoned and unclaimed animals, and much more. Upon responding to calls of animals in need, the department assists them in whatever way necessary, getting sick and injured animals veterinary attention and transporting homeless pets to the Massachusetts Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals-Angell Animal Medical Center (MSPCA-Angell).

MSPCA-Angell is located nearby in Boston, MA and works with the Somerville Animal Control Department to help bring pets to safety and happiness. As the second oldest humane society in the United States, the organization has been serving and protecting animals since 1868. The mission of the nonprofit is to protect animals, advance their welfare and health, put an end to their suffering, and prevent cruelty in order to work towards a just and compassionate society.

Every animal that comes through the shelter doors receives loving care, socialization, enrichment, vaccinations, a spay/neuter procedure, microchipping, flea/tick treatment or preventative, deworming, and complete veterinary care until they can be adopted into a responsible forever home! Upon adoption, the organization even offers Beginner's Obedience and Puppy Play 'N Learn Training Classes, which are included in the adoption fee! MSPCA-Angell provides a plethora of resources for pet owners including low-cost spay/neuter programs, behavior and training classes, veterinary financial assistance, humane education, and lost and found animal reporting.

Through collaboration between the Somerville Animal Control Department and MSPCA-Angell, Somerville's animals in need are in compassionate, caring hands.
