Best Dawg Rescue's mission is to aid all neglected, injured, sick, homeless and hungry dogs with medical attention, food and TLC. All dogs deserve to be loved; they love us unconditionally every day of their lives! The volunteers are Best Dawg Rescue believe we owe them respect, love, and a secure, safe, forever home. All of the dogs at their rescue become the staff's family. If a dog gets adopted and is then returned to the rescue, that dog will always have a secure, loving place to call home while he waits for his next chance at adoption. The dedicated staff at Best Dawg Rescue will never give up on their family!
Are you ready to take the plunge and become a first-time dog parent? The staff at Best Dawg Rescue can help you every step of the way. Not sure which type of dog is right for you? The staff can help you with that too! Whether this is your first furry son or daughter or your 5th, the walls of Best Dawg Rescue are filled to the brim with nothing but lovable best friends waiting to meet you!
If you can't adopt, maybe you could consider becoming a foster paw-rent. Every foster family that takes in one rescue dog opens up another spot at the rescue - you are really saving two lives! Fostering is a great way to take a "doggy test drive" if you are on the fence about adopting a dog. It will also help the dog in question to socialize with different of people and animals.
If you can't foster, maybe consider volunteering to help out at the shelter. There is so much to do - clerical work, fundraising, cleaning, walking and playing with the dogs, transporting them to and from the vet or adoption events and so much more! If you have any spare time you can give, the staff at Best Dawg Rescue would be very appreciative. There is no better feeling than doing something selfless for others; come on in and feel that feeling over and over. The staff will thank you and the dogs will too!
The Rescue receives no funding outside of donations from animal lovers like you. Best Dawg Rescue needs donations to keep their rescue running and to keep their dogs healthy, happy and safe. If you are in the financial position to give, please consider giving generously to this great cause!
Want to go walking in a winter wonderland? Bring your whole family (and your well-behaved, leashed fur-child too) and get immersed in the holiday spirit! Be sure to be a responsible paw-rent and clean up after your pup, please! Santa is watching, and he will even be there from 1-4 pm in Veterans Park. This event is completely free, so come on down and check it out! There will be some amazing ice sculptors doing what they do best - creating amazing ice masterpieces! There will also be yummy treats, hot cocoa and did we mention - Santa? Bring your camera and get your picture taken with the big man himself, and don't forget your wish list!
It's always the season for shopping! The Montgomery Women's Farm and Flea Market operates 52 times a year - each weekend! Your furry buddy can join you at the outside market - just be sure he is on a 6-foot leash (no retractable leashes for everyone's safety), is well-behaved and you pick up after him should nature call. The vendors have everything from clothing to food and all things collectable! There is also an outdoor flea market on Sundays - but tell Fido not to worry - there will be no actual fleas there! Grab your purse, your recycled shopping bags and all your two (and four) legged shopping buddies and get your shop on!
The whole family is welcome to attend the annual Streetmarket! Bring Fido on his 6-foot leash and be sure to clean up after him. There will be many popular vendors on hand including Take Care Shop, Steadfast Supply, Urban Jungle, Capital Craft Co. and many more. The event is free to the public and will offer free snacks and drinks to the crowd. There will also be an interactive photo booth available - so get silly and SMILE for the camera! If you are still looking for that perfect gift for that special someone, chances are they have what you are looking for at this market! What a wonderful community, family-friendly event!
We all need a little extra exercise these days, especially with all those holiday goodies out there! Your furry buddy needs to go for a walk every day, so why not join him and head to Rock Creek Trail? This is a 14-mile asphalt covered trail that winds through the scenic hills and valleys in beautiful Montgomery County, Maryland. Be sure to share the road with your fellow dog walkers, runners, inline skaters and bikers. Also be sure to do your duty as a responsible pawrent and clean up after your furry walking companion. Remember to stay hydrated and keep to the trails! Next time someone tells you to take a hike - now you have some place to go!
Who doesn't need another photo of their pet with Santa? You know you already have a frame picked out, so head on over to the Wet Dog Tavern in nearby Washington, DC and have Fido climb up on Santa's lap and say cheese! All proceeds will benefit the Humane Rescue Alliance. You will get your own magnetic frame for your picture with Santa. The photo is free but won't you consider giving a donation to help this very worthy cause? HO HO HO to all, and a very happy paw-lidays!
