Hike with Your Hound at the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park
The White Pine Trail State Park is part of the nationwide Rails-to-Trails Conservancy that is turning rail corridors into trails connecting communities and people to nature. This "bark" is nearly 93 square miles and is the newest, narrowest and longest state park. There are no motorized vehicles allowed. You can enjoy the four seasons with your tail-wagging companion. There is parking near the Cadillac trailhead. The park allows biking, hiking, and rollerblading, and eventually the trail leads to campsites. Check the website for maps and details.36
Cadillac Novelty Dog Show
Strut your pup at the Cadillac Novelty Dog Show! The dog show is a chance for people and pets to socialize and practice their skills. This family-friendly day has classes and a chance to get in the circle with your best buddy. There are vendors and pet products. All dogs must be vaccinated and in good health to attend. No little puppies, please. Novelty dog show canines must be at least 5 months old. Heel! Run and Play at the Cadillac Area Dog Park
The Cadillac Area Dog Park is a great place to spend some time with your playful pooch and have a romping good time! This new park is lauded as a great addition to the community. It is fenced for off-leash safety. The grass is soft for paws to play on. They built a pavilion for shade and added pavers on the walkway to minimize mud at the entry gate. There is water and bags are provided for clean up. Located off of 6th Avenue, townies appreciate the open play area!12
Cadillac Freedom Festival
The Cadillac Freedom Festival celebrates the birthday of our nation with a series of events that span 3 days. The festivities include live bands, dancing, vendors, food, and local crafts. You can bring your watercraft and seadog for a blessing of the boats on the Cadillac Lake! There is a parade with bands, cars, local clubs, and fun sights and smells. Bring your lawn chair to the pavilion to watch the fireworks. Grab your leash and your friendly Fido for some up north, Michigan fun!
Bone Appetit at Hermann's European Cafe
Downtown Cadillac has a row of shops, restaurants, and businesses with large storefront windows for browsing the wares and affairs of the community. A treat on this street is a stop at Hermann's European Cafe! The chef is well-known for his specialties that include delectable dishes from schnitzels to flambeed main courses. There are sidewalk cafe tables where you can people-watch with your pooch while savoring these well-prepared portions!
