Hawthorne Ridge Dog Park

Looking for a nice fur-family outing? Head on over to the Hawthorne Ridge Recreation Area. Located in this community park, you and your canine pal can enjoy the fresh air and company of other fur families. The dog park itself is situated by Edward N Hines Dr. and Hawthorn Park Dr. and has two different sections. One is for the big pups and the other is for the smaller pups. The park is open for your enjoyment almost completely year round, with the exception of closing in May for maintenance. Just keep in mind, in order to enter the dog park you must have your pupper registered with the city! You can do this by going to the Nankin Mills building which is located at 33175 Ann Arbor Trail, Westland, MI.

You and your puppy pal can spend a lovely day out together while enjoying the small things in life, like ice cream! Sit, Stay, Shop!

During the summer, make sure to put your pup in their best outfit and head on over to the Westland Farmers Market. For one day each summer, your pup is invited to the Farmers Market to enjoy themselves. On this day, vendors bring different items for your canine companion to shop through and delight in. The market also holds cutest puppy contests, and best dressed male and female puppers. This event promotes the local dog organization, Last Day Dog Rescue, so be sure to check out their booth. The market is located at 1901 N Carlson Street and is open Thursdays, May through October. Check out the webpage for more details!

Central City Park

While there may already be an official dog park in this neck of the woods, you may feel the urge to go somewhere the entire family can enjoy together, not just the fur babies. In that case, head on over to Central City Park, which is located at 36601 Ford Rd. This park has an ample amount of room for you and your pup to run around on, and also has a playground and other various activities for the entire family to enjoy. With a walking track, splash pads and soccer fields, you and your entire family can spend all day together, including your four-legged bestie!

Time for a Pup-Shot

In Westland, animals are a top priority. The city teamed up with different organizations in order to fund this event to help those canine companions in need. This event, open only to locals, can accept the first 250 puppers who show up ready and willing to get their vaccinations, which include Distemper, Rabies, and Bordetella. It is a great way to help your pup without breaking the bank. Be sure to check out the Westland City webpage for more information on this event, which usually occurs later in the year. The event is held at 1661 N Wayne Rd at the Wayne Ford Civic League.
