“Experienced, reliable & excited to meet your pup!”
I’m so excited to be able to share my passion for being outside with all the new and old doggos in my life! I have 10 years of experience walking and caring for dogs of all sizes, ages and temperaments. I spent the last year working at an animal sanctuary in South America where I was responsible for the care, management and enrichment of 21 wild felines, which included taking them on daily walks in the jungle. I’m thrilled to now offer my care, love and time for more people’s best friends!

Serving both Independence and the Kansas City Metro area, the Great Plains SPCA is one the largest no-kill facilities in the state! Seeing upwards of 10,000 animals annually, this shelter prides itself on rehoming or reuniting a huge majority of these animals with their families. GPSCPCA works toward its mission of prevention and retention by providing low-cost veterinary alternatives in addition to their innovative community initiatives. One of their largest programs is the SASSY Program, in which volunteers take senior shelter dogs to assisted living facilities in order for seniors to maintain a strong sense of companionship. Great Plains SPCA has a robust calendar of community fundraising events and strives for lower and lower margins of failure each year.
Animals Best Friends is a small nonprofit rescue group started in 1995 by a handful of volunteers with a dream of one day having a space to call their own. Just under a decade later, they were able to buy a space to house their prospective adoptees. Animals Best Friends promotes microchipping and neuter and spaying programs in order to further their goals of an Independence free of homeless pets. Partnering with WoofTrax, people can donate a dollar to this group for every mile walked with their own furry friend.
Acting as the official entity of the municipality, Independence Animal Services provide a wide array of services to the community ranging from managing barking complains to capturing strays. The Animal Services Division mostly focuses on the reunion of lost pets with their owners and facilitating calls for dangerous or injured animals, but they also host a shelter space for adoptable pets. As an extension of the Department of Health, Independence Animal Services works to prevent overpopulation as a measure of preventing disease and promoting wellbeing.
Are you tired of the dating scene and the swiping left and right? Do you wish you could just take the town with your furry friend by your side? Do you have $20 and a desire to treat Fido to a three-course meal? Look no further than the Doggie Date Night at The Courthouse Exchange in partnership with the Brookside Barkery! This event benefits the Great Plains SPCA and invites humans and their four-legged companions to enjoy a lavish meal on The Courthouse Exchange patio. Advanced booking is required.
Revisit the magic of childhoods past at the Twin Drive-In movie theater. The Twin Drive-In theater shows both an afternoon and evening showing for both the early birds and the night owls. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and other camping gear to set up shop at this blast from the past. There are concessions for sale, but guests are welcome to skip the line and bring their own cooler of goodies. Leashed dogs are welcome to showings as long as they stay with the humans. Settle into a retro night out at just $10 for both showings.
Each year, the City of Independence partners with the Parks and Recreation Department to put on the Heritage Festival and subsequent skateboarding competition that usually follows. This festival is the intersection of music, sport, and culture, highlighting the diversity in Independence! There will be live music and dancing demonstrations, ethnic food vendors, and activities for the children to participate in. Heritage Festival brings the community together to celebrate our differences through storytelling and art, and leashed dogs are welcome to join.
Sponsored by Titos Vodka at the dog-friendly Foundry, Howl-O-Ween Trunk or Treat welcomes dogs and children to trick-or-treat while mom and dad enjoy a cocktail. No Howl-O-Ween event is complete without a dog costume contest, so be sure to dress Fido in his spooky best to compete for the prizes and the glory! There will be live music, beer, and a full food menu available at The Foundry. One hundred percent of cocktail proceeds go to the Great Plains SPCA, so while admission is free, donations are greatly appreciated.
With school’s start just around the corner, the George Owens Nature Park hosts their annual Hummingbird Festival for bird-lovers and novice watchers alike. The Hummingbird Festival invites guests to come see an assortment of different hummingbird species sipping on the numerous feeders throughout the park. There will be wildlife rehabilitators present giving presentations on nursing hummingbirds back to health for rerelease, and how to identify the different species. Leashed dogs are welcome at all of the outdoor facilities, and admission is free!
